Seriously, what is wrong with the old, time-honored goose hunting gear? Since retail outlets and hunting specialty shops can burn a hole in one's pocket, the sports hunter could buy the latest gear from online sales or auctions or swap meets conducted by hunting clubs at bargain prices as compared to the actual cost. The weighted stand plus the spring and swivel attachment give the impression that the decoy is moving, or rather bobbing up and down in the wind. Smart geese that had refused to be fooled by the traditional decoys, will truly find the 'new types' a little puzzling!

(4) It is a common sight to see the birds stretching their wings at feeding times. So the other type of decoy offered with the new goose hunting gear, imitates this movement of the goose stretching its wings. Gamer suffers from a fundamental paradox (beyond the usual one of rational people agreeing to be a part of such blithering idiocy) that has destroyed many a dystopic science fiction film before it. It posits a future where real human beings have replaced VR constructs in video games: feeding our collective inhumanity by allowing us to control another person like a puppet. Then, having established that society as a whole is the source of the problem, it provides a single evil mastermind at the heart of it all, implying that if we just eliminate the one bad apple, everything will be fine. That crushes the social commentary beneath simplistic clichés, old as dirt decades ago and showing little improvement with age. Gamer indulges in them to its supreme detriment, along with a number of other dippy concepts it can't hope to support.

The evil mastermind in this case is a computer mogul named Castle (Michael C. Hall), who has perfected nanites that utterly control another person's movement. He spins this off into a series of hugely successful games: "Society," which plays like the most erotic corners of Second Life and "Slayer" which plays like Rainbow Six and similar shoot-'em-ups. The former is populated by desperate souls willing to be manipulated like living dolls in order to fulfill the sex fantasies of drooling shut-ins. The latter, on the other hand, uses real guns and real bullets, fired by condemned criminals who enter the game with the promise of freedom should they survive. Our Hero stands at the top of that heap: an ex-soldier assigned the name of Kable (Gerard Butler) who has survived far beyond that of any other contestant thanks to a combination of his own skills and the twitchy-fingered teenager (Logan Lerman) controlling him.

This brings up another of Gamer's innumerable problems. What, exactly, is the benefit of using real human beings like virtual ciphers? Is there an added thrill to it? Something visceral that makes it irresistible? Humans are harder to control, they tire more easily, their deaths are more horrific and though you can dress them up any way you want, you can't alter their skin or shape the way you could a virtual avatar. Yet Gamer maintains that this is somehow preferable to computer-generated figures because it's more "real." The concept might hold up better with a little more thought put into it, but there's none to be had here, which turns it all into a giant head-scratcher.

And that doesn't begin to touch on the countless more mundane problems plaguing The Gamer like a horde of locusts. For starters, it's just plain goofy: stringing together hackneyed notions of dark futures, corporate overloads and a valiant "resistance" trying to shake the populace out of their media-induced stupor. Kable becomes the catalyst for their revolt, given the tools to break out of his trap and hunt down Castle in a climactic battle to the finish. But directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor invest so little thought into his dilemma that nothing onscreen even begins to register a pulse.

Instead, they try to tart it up with a lot of spastic visuals--loads of fun during the directors' Crank films, but just noisy and empty here. Kable is allowed a few moments of inspiration, but they remain isolated amid scene after scene of seizure-inducing gobbledygook. Gamer also plays into ugly stereotypes about its titular demographic, rendered here as obese letches or morally bankrupt high schoolers. Kable and his family serve as hollow nice guys in a world full of leering monsters, a concept requiring much more effort than anyone here is willing to give.

It becomes all the more astonishing when you look at the names among the cast--Keith David, Alison Lohman, Kyra Sedgwick, Zoë Bell and Milo Ventimiglia among others. All of them are capable of better things, and yet with the exception of David, all of them look like they're just marking time until they can cash their checks. John Leguizamo makes a particularly odd appearance, given absolutely nothing to do and leaving the sneaking suspicion that a lot of his performance was left on the cutting room floor. It couldn't be any worse than the footage they left in, though thankfully it keeps Gamer short enough to endure quietly before fleeing the theaters for a long hot shower.

Dusted this coyote and bobcat to protect some unsuspecting turkeys and other forms of wildlife in our area. Called in this coyote and bobcat and shot with a Savage 7 mag. A little too much gun for these animals but I was hog hunting and deer hunting. Calling varmints is a very exciting way to hunt these animals. Coyotes are one of Earth's greatest survivors and have the ability to elude danger better than any animal I know of. It's a rush to get these predators to come in and hunt you. Coyote was a young one and probably would of come in even closer. Bobcat wasnt huge but had some of the prettiest spots I've seen on one. I killed one probably about twice that size in Texas but not on video. I love bobcats, they're pretty animals. I've let a few walk on a couple occasions. Couple younger ones came by while we were turkey hunting and a 12 gauge from 15 yards wouldn't of been right lol. But this one was in, and then gone, and came into the call so I had to let the air out of him.

Unlike many other sports superstars Tiger Woods has never been a man to surround himself in controversy. He's not out late with the paparazzi following him. He's not shedding tears on national television over other players. He is not giving his opinions on Tom Cruise or Britney Spears to tabloids and he is certainly not giving opinions on race relations in professional golf or otherwise.

Woods has never been especially vocal about his opinions on anything other than the game of golf. In fact, while he is on the brink of making history at the Buick Invitational, Woods remains an enigma to many that regard him as a cultural icon who could make a bigger impact on social issues.

In the past few weeks Woods has been subjected to close scrutiny by both the media and by other celebs in light of some culturally insensitive "lynch" remarks made by Golf Channel anchor Kelly Tilghman and also by the recent controversial "noose" cover of Golfweek magazine.

Woods seemed virtually unshaken by either incident and called the Tilghman remark a "non-issue." Much to the dismay of those waiting for a racial powder keg to explode Woods remained calm, composed and cool throughout both ordeals, pausing only to reflect publicly when prodded repeatedly through media pressure and outspoken sports commentators across the country.

Jim Brown, former professional African-American football star, stated that he thinks Woods should stand up for not only himself but for Black athletes in general but Woods isn't budging. He accepted an apology from Tilghman and said that the two are old friends and that he knows she did not mean anything harmful in her remarks.

Many like Brown have suggested that Woods could have done more to be socially responsible. Woods is fully aware of those that would have him be a champion of racial injustices. He has stated before that he will not go down that road and feels the so-called controversy regarding his stance on racial issues in modern golf is media-driven.

People forget that Woods is only part African-American and that while he is fully famous he has never been an outspoken individual on any kind of issues other than those that directly affect his swing. They forget that just because he's a superstar, he never signed up to be anyone's political mouthpiece. He has and always will be a classy gentleman who tends to let the media crash and burn in their own controversies.

In this instance Woods handled the situation both professionally and with poise. It's a no-brainer that what Kelly Tilghman said was deplorable or that the cover of Golfweek was distasteful. Anyone can see that. There was no need to be melodramatic about it because in the end, it all worked itself out, minus any protests, boycotts or visits from the Reverend Al Sharpton. Woods handled the incident like a man, albeit a quiet one. Above all he handled it with class.

Woods knows all too well that incidents of a racial nature only derive their power from fear, ignorance and undying media attention. Woods doesn't have to speak out against the absurdity of the media using words like "lynch" or putting nooses on the covers of glossy magazines - they are absurd enough on their own.

Woods is like any other sports superstar who is paid massive sums of money from sponsors to uphold a certain image. People in that world generally do not support social issues. Were Woods not African-American would there be such pressure to make a stand? Certainly Jack Nicklaus was never asked to speak out against racial injustices in the golf world, so why Tiger?

Woods is no stranger to influence or power, especially in the universe of professional golf. Certainly, had he pressed the issue, Kelly Tilghman would be fired. Regardless of what people outside the world of golf think of him he is as socially responsible as he needs to be. He has often referred to his foundation and work with children as being very socially responsible and important to him. The Tiger Woods Learning Center in Anaheim has reached a little over 16,000 kids in just two years and to Tiger, that's what matters most.
